Glacier, by definition, means: A large mass of compacted snow that moves slowly until it either breaks off to form icebergs or melts when it reaches warmer climates.  Well that sounds simple enough, However you have really got to see one to understand the awesome size and sheer force they use to create valleys.

Hollgate Glacier    This is the Hollgate Glacier as seen from one of the many local guided trips through Resurrection Bay.  This would be a case of "Break off to form icebergs.  This Glacier along with the rest in the Seward area are fed by the Harding Ice Field.

Click above to see the Ice Field. It is one awesome site.

Here is a Hiker Climbing the hill next to Exit Glacier. Exit Glacier is accessible by automobile and a short hike. You can view the glacier from the road which is great for some people who would rather not make the hike.

After you come over the crest of the hill that exit glacier cuts through you will be awed by the breath-taking view of the Harding Ice Field.

The ice is really that blue!
